Chester R. Waite Jr. passed away peacefully at St. Joseph Hospital in Tampa, Florida surrounded by his family on April 15,2018. Chester was born on August 4, 1938 in Hartford, Connecticut to the late Mildred (Paquin) and Chester R. Waite Sr. He was the beloved husband of Josephine Waite for 60 wonderful years. He served in the Navy from 1955 to 1961 as a hurricane tracker. Chester and Josephine raised their family in Enfield, Ct and later Somers, Ct. Chester worked for Dexter Paper Mill in Windsor Locks, Ct until his retirement. Chester and Josephin moved to Spring HIll, Fl to enjoy their retirement years. Chester had a love of the martial arts and taught the art for several years. He is survived by his daughter, Virginia Ford and husband Thomas G. Ford of Washington, NC; son, Michael R. Waite and wife Jackie of Whales, MA; grandchildren, Jessica Adams and husband Ken Adams of Washington, NC, Kate Whitfield and husband Richard Whitfield of Greenville, NC, Mariah Waite of East Longmeadow, MA; and great-grandchildren, Kelly Adams, Jamie Adams, and Cora Whitfield. There will be a memorial at Downing Funeral Home, 1214 Wendy Court, Spring Hill, Florida on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 10:00 am.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to help his great-granddaughter fight Spinal Muscular Atrophy ℅ First Bank, 639 W 15th St, Washington, NC 27889
