JoAnn Ruggiero

JoAnn Ruggiero of Spring Hill, Florida, went with the Lord on Sunday, March 31, 2013. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4 from 1-3 and 6-8 at the Downing Funeral Home, 1214 Wendy Ct, Spring Hill.  A service will be held on Friday, April 5, 12 noon at the First United Methodist Church, 9344 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill.  Interment immediately following at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. JoAnn was born and raised in Wilkes Barre, PA.  She relocated to Newark, NJ and graduated from Westside HS. She attended Upsala College and graduated with a Nursing degree in 1952.  Her nursing career began at Clara Mass Hospital in Bellville.  JoAnn married Salvatore Ruggiero, on June 26, 1954.  They later moved to Iselin, NJ and continued her career at Rahway Hospital as a Staff Nurse, Night Supervisor and retired as the Manager of Utilization Review in 1997.  She is survived by her loving husband Salvatore.  JoAnn was a devoted mother to Salvatore Jr. and his wife Charlene, Michele and her husband Clark, Anthony and his wife Tania, Jamie (deceased in 2012) and her husband James, Cheryl and her husband Walter.  She was the proud grandmother of 9 grandchildren, Ashley, Jessica, Courtney (deceased), Jamie Jr., Heather, Walter III and Keira, Jonathan and Jake and 7 great grandchildren, Kenneth, Jordan, Jaylynn, Julius, Mercedes, Katrina and Victoria. In 1998, she and her husband moved to Spring Hill, Florida.  She was actively involved in her church, the choir and was President of the Pennsylvania Club. Her passion was spending time with her family, friends and making the Holidays memorable.
