Calvin "Cal" Hunter Tompson, born in Rochester, NH, February 26, 1927.  He slipped the surly hands of earth on January 17, 2014.  Flying was his lifelong love and he made his living at it.  He wanted to fly since seeing his first airplane in the sky at the age of  5.

Cal was proud to be one of only three men from his hometown of Rochester, NH to be invited into the prestigious Quiet Birdmen Flying Organization.  He spent 14 years as a Test Pilot for Aerofab, makers of the Lake amphibian airplane.  He flew all over North and South America, as well as up & down the Amazon River, as an aircraft salesman.  In fourteen years he assembled and test flew over 400 aircraft from the production line.  In his later years he enjoyed being an expert marksman at Hernando County Sportsman's Club.  He was in WWII Army Air Forces. He was a proud Master Mason and Shriner.

Cal leaves his wife Barbara Horne Tompson, two children Mark Tompson of Sanbornton, NH and Elaine T. Demers of Manchester, ME, one brother Donald Tompson, one sister Eleanor Towle, and pre-deceased sister Eileen Beaudoin; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Cal was loved as a father figure by all his younger friends.

A gathering will be held at Downing Funeral Home, on Wednesday January 22 at 10 am with 11 am Masonic chapel service and processional to Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL for burial with full military honors. Donations to: HPH Hospice, 12260 Cortez Blvd, Brooksville, Fl 34613 in lieu of flowers would be appreciated.
