Duane was born on October 11, 1934, the 3rd son of Barbara (Kelley) and Allen Sherman. He was a
high school graduate, earning his GED after going to work full time at Oldsmobile. He completed
many courses offered through work to increase his job skills. On April 6, 1952, he married Roberta
Bruno. They celebrated 72 years of marriage on April 6, 2024. Duane proudly served in the National
Guard. He worked for 40 years in supervision of data processing at Oldsmobile and later EDS. He
was proud of his career and worked hard to be promoted and earn recognition for his dedicated work
ethic. Duane was an avid golfer and loved the competitiveness of the game. He kept his lawn and
gardens beautifully manicured and enjoyed being outside working. He was always building or
improving something around his home. He believed in taking care of what he had and his hard work
showed. Each summer he would swear that this was his "last big project" until the next summer when
he came up with a new one. Above all, Duane loved and cared for his family. He was fiercely proud
of all of them.
Duane is survived by his loving wife of 72 years and full time caregiver for the last several years, Bobbi;
son, D. Michael Sherman (Audrey); daughter, Deborah Beason (John); grandchildren, Jason
Sherman (Mandi), Gretchen Thompson (Ken), Abbie Kidder (Jonathan), Michael Striler (Faith), Chip
Sherman (Stephanie), Kyle Striler; 9 great grandchildren; one sister, Joy Hunt; and one brother, Dennis
