Lane, Helen Lillian:
Mrs. Helen Lillian Lane passed away peacefully surrounded by
family on April 24, 2018. Helen was born in 1925 in Portland,
OR. After graduating from high school in 1943, Helen went to
work at the Vancouver WA ship yards building aircraft carriers
in the early days of WW II. It was through that service that
Helen met, and later married, a handsome young sailor, Harold
J. Hogan in 1944. They moved to St. Louis, MO where their
daughter, Kathleen was born in 1952. In 1954 Helen divorced
and moved back to Vancouver, WA, where she later met and
married Charles M. Lane. They moved to Packwood, WA where
Helen went to work in her dream job, negotiating timber sales
for the U.S. Forest Service. Helen loved the outdoors and found
joy in digging for clams, camping, hiking and picking fresh wild
berries in the shadow of MT. Rainer.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Charles, and in 2003
Helen moved to Clearwater, Florida to be near her daughter,
Kathleen, and son-in-law, Edward. Helen lived in an active
retirement community where she enjoyed many years of
friendships, community involvement and volunteering in the
In 2016 Helen moved to Weeki Wachee, Florida to live with
Kathleen and Edward. Helen lived out her life in joy surrounded
by family and entertained by manatees, dolphins, turtles and
other local wild life. A peaceful, gentle and loving soul, Helen
will be missed and remembered by all that knew her. A Life
Well Lived Indeed.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Wolf (Edward);
granddaughter, Michelle Thompson (Bill); stepsons, Douglas
and David along with their children and grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lane, and
her brothers, Louis and Ralph Siewert, of Vancouver, WA.
A celebration of Helen's life will be announced at a later date.
