Helen Sickler Squier

Helen Agnes Sickler Squier went home to be with the Lord on August 9th, 2017.  She was the youngest child of Pauline Marie (Decker) Sickler.  Helen had celebrated her 91st birthday on April 25th.  On October 13, 2016 she celebrated her 65th wedding anniversary with her husband Jesse H. Squier who resides at Spring Oaks Assisted Living Facility in Spring Hill, Florida. 

Helen was an alumni member of Elim Bible Institute.  She was the valedictorian of her 1943 graduating class.  She went on to pastor a church in Endwell, New York for 7 years before meeting and marrying her husband.  While raising 4 children she also did work at the Nicholson blouse factory, sold Avon, and worked beside her husband on their farm.  She served as substitute pastor for pastors of the Fairdale United Methodist Charge during the 1970’s and ‘80’s and was a musician for the Fairdale Church until she and Jesse retired to Bushnell, FL in 1986. 

Helen’s children are Dorell (Mrs. Frank) Orzolek of Bloomsburg, PA; Elizabeth A. Smith of Brooksville, FL; Jesse J. Squier of Spring Hill, FL; and Jared J. Squier of Montrose, PA.  Helen had 12 grandchildren who in turn blessed Helen with several great and great-great grandchildren.  

Helen will be remembered at a Memorial Service to be held on Sunday September 3, 2017, 2 p.m. at the West Nicholson UM Church with Jay McCracken officiating and light refreshments to follow.  The Church address is 135 SR 1011, West Nicholson, PA, 18446.  Family and friends are invited to come with happy and loving memories to share with one another as they celebrate Helen’s well lived life.
