Jean Elizabeth Thompson was born in Buffalo, New York on December 15, 19232 to Walter and Betty Ackerman. She was the first of 5 children.
Her favorite childhood memory was trips to see her grandparents in Antwerp, New York. She spent many good times with her “Daddy Clyde Allen” who loved her dearly.
After graduating from Amherst High School, she started a job in the bank her father she worked at. Not long after that, she got a job at Paramount Pictures where she met a few movie stars that were popular at that time. In her later years she worked at the University of Delaware and eventually landed a job in a printing business.
When a friend of hers fixed her up with a blind date, they fell in love and got married December 28, 1946. Jean and Earl Thompson, Jr. helped run the family Taxi Cab business, then proceeded to raise a family of 3 children.
Jean coming from a family of professional musicians, played the piano and had a beautiful singing voice. She sang in a choir at her high school and would sing at all of our family get together throughout the years.
Jean was a very loving, gentle person. She managed and coordinated a 3 piece band that included her son Earl III and 2 nephews.
She could throw and organize parties, picnics, wedding receptions, showers, etc.
Jean loved cats and was a breeder of Siamese cats at one time. She was an excellent cook and always had a hot meal ready for her family and whomever would show up at the door.
In 1990 Jean and Earl retired and moved to Brooksville, Florida where they lived and made new friends. They were married 70 years when Earl passed October 1, 2016.
She will be missed very much by all who knew her and her family.
Jean is survived by her sister, Joan Lisowski, Paul & Caroline Ackerman from Arizona, Alfred Ackerman from Buffalo, New York and many nieces and nephews. Her brother Allen died April 1, 2019.
Jeans children, Alice, Earl and Nanette are facing a great loss.
She had 3 step grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great baby girls.
