Alfred "Freddy" J. Domenico

He was born in Cranston, Rhode Island on March 29, 1953 to Alfred and Claudia (Di Santo) Domenico. 

He has proceeded in death by: his wife of 51 years (just this past April) and by his brother Robert. 

Survived by siblings; Jana, David, Susan Tillison (Jeff), & Stephen (along with nieces & nephews). 

He was a 1971 graduate of Cranston High School East. October 27, 1974 he married Debra Louise Urbano at St. Ann’s Church ~ Cranston, Rhode Island. Debra was the absolute love of his life. 

They moved to Spring Hill, Florida in 1976 & he began his career with the Hernando County Utilities Department. He was outstanding in his knowledge of the wastewater process. Well respected and liked by all. 1995 he transferred to DPW & later  returned to Utilities in 2005. He had a great sense of humor and was loved and respected by everyone.

Mr. Domenico had over 40 years in the martial arts in Florida alone but his love of the art began long before in Rhode Island. 

His background was mainly in Uechi-Ryu karate, a very tough Okinawan style, Jiu-jutsu, and Okinawan weaponry, of which he was an expert. He was also an expert in Juko-Ryu combat KI, which teaches "combat internal energy." This allows a person to ignore pain, and Mr. Domenico's demonstrations at tournaments were absolute show-stoppers when he would invite big, burly men in the audience to kick him in the groin and punch him in the throat, and he remained calm and unfazed by it!

At home AI was always the watchdog for the neighbourhood. The one everyone relied upon if they left for vacations or whenever needed - walking dogs (he was a vivacious dog lover), grabbing mail, cutting yards, taking packages into homes so as not to be stolen. In so many ways, this wonderful man was family to SO many people. Grandchildren visiting; he always came running out with Milky Way candy bars. He was like the extra grandpa in the neighborhood.

His karate nickname was Kumo, a Japanese word for bear. This says it all about his personal fighting style! He began his Florida training under Mr. Friscia in 1987, and has remained in Sentoshin-kai Bujutsu ever since. He was as tough as they come, had a heart of gold, and was well liked and respected as a "man's man" and as an expert instructor.
