Augustin C Crespo

Augustin (Gus) C. Crespo, 97, of Weeki Wachee, FL, passed away peacefully at his home on July 24, 2025. He was a beloved father, grandfather, friend, and devoted man of faith. Augustin lived a life marked by service, sacrifice, and an unwavering love for his family and God.

Born on April 10, 1928, to Rogelia (Cruz) Crespo and Salvador Crespo, Augustin was a World War II veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Army. His strength, resilience, and quiet humility reflected the values of the Greatest Generation.

Augustin is survived by his son, Augustine Crespo, of Pinellas Park, Florida; his brother, Louis Crespo, of Bronx, NY; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends who will carry on his legacy of strength and faith. He is also survived by his first wife and dear friend, Tina Cruz, from Spring Hill, Florida.

A deeply faithful Catholic, Augustin was a long-standing and dedicated member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, where he worshipped and found spiritual fulfillment and community. His faith was central to his life and a guiding light through both joy and sorrow.

Augustin’s memory will be forever cherished by those who knew him. His humble presence, his service to others, and his deep love for family and faith have left an enduring mark on all who were blessed to be part of his life.

Augustin was preceded in death by his parents, Rogelia and Salvador Crespo; his sisters, Emily and Viola Crespo; his children, Richard Crespo, Michael Crespo, Daniel Crespo, Maria (Lupe) Salazar, and Emily Crespo; a grandson, BJ Crespo-Cruz; and his second wife, Maria DeJesus.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Theresa Catholic Church, located at 1107 Commercial Way, Spring Hill, FL 34606. For those unable to attend in person, the Mass will be live-streamed at saint-theresa.org. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery.
