many of whom sought his advice even after high school. His next careers
were in insurance and with the Internal Revenue Service.
He was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Spring Hill, FL and
the Knights of Columbus. Golf was his favorite hobby. He was known for
teaching not only athletic skills, but for inspiring good sportsmanship on the
baseball and softball teams he coached in the Newburyport Pioneer
League. He was an amazing card player, rarely letting his opponent win.
Bert loved the ocean, spending many summers at the beach. He will be
remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, joke-telling, storytelling,
generosity, concern for others, smile, and especially, his calm demeanor.
