Betty Warrick quietly slipped into the presence of her Lord on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 10:45am after a brief illness. Born in Toledo, Ohio on June 2, 1926 to Jesse and Mildred (Gatten) Draper and raised during The Depression and World War II, Betty set her sights high, pursuing a pilot’s license and then a bachelor’s degree from The University of Toledo. Having grown up an only child, she dreamed of being part of a large family. After the war she met Robert Gibson Warrick. They married and together, had eight children. She was a devoted wife and supportive mother. Mom had a love for music and singing, a passion passed on to several of her children. As they grew up and went their separate ways, she developed her skills in barbershop harmony and joined Sweet Adelines International, performing in annual concerts and competitions. She also sang in numerous quartets and took part in a local singing group, The Timbertones. She compiled and wrote a memoir of herself and the family, which she completed and had published in late 2023. Actively involved to the very end, Mom leaves a huge emptiness in all our hearts. She loved deeply and sought to keep the family united. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2011 and by one child, James, who died shortly after his birth in 1956. She is survived by her daughters: Mary Ann in Paris, France, Brigid in Durham, NC, and Rebecca (Becky) in Englewood, FL and by her sons: Thomas (Tom) in Dallas, TX, Robert (Gib) in Charlotte, NC, John in Ranchos Palos Verdes, CA, and Daniel (Dan) in Lubbock, TX along with twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
