Dennis Michael Craven, 61

On Friday, September 4, 2020, Dennis Craven, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, passed away at the age of 61, in Bradenton, Fl., after an almost 2 year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his devoted sister, Mary Anne and his loving brother-in-law John Simon with whom he lived these last 2 years.

Dennis was born on St. Patrick’s Day March 17, 1959 in Bristol, PA. He lived his early life in Penndel, Pa before moving to Brooksville, Florida as a teenager in 1976.
 
Mr. Craven proudly served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves as a hydraulic mechanic and spent most of his life in this line of work. He served active duty during Operation Desert Storm. Craven dedicated much of his life in the service to others. He was a founding member of POW/MIA Committee of Hernando County, was a former Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge 2582, member of the Moose, Eagles, VFW, and American Legion. Mr. Craven loved riding motorcycles and was a member of the Elks Riders Brooksville Lodge 2582. Mr. Craven had a gift for cooking. His family and friends will miss the dishes his loving prepared. He had an oversized sense of humor and an imagination to match.

Mr. Craven is survived by two children Suzanne Craven of Eufuala, OK and Patrick of Brooksville, Florida. Stepson Terrence Ford, Tucson, AZ, and Michelle Morris, Sierra Vista, AZ. He is also survived by former spouse, Jayne Craven, Spring Hill, Fl.

He is also survived by his sister, Mary Anne Servian and brother-in-law, John Simon of Bradenton, Fl, 4 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews and innumerable friends.

Mr. Craven is predeceased by wife Jutta, parents Arthur and Frances Craven, sister Beverly, and brothers Joseph C. and Richard J. Craven.

Funeral arrangements are through Downing Funeral Home, Spring Hill, FL, Mr. Craven will be buried with military honors at Florida National Cemetery (Bushnell, FL) alongside his late wife, Jutta on September 21, 2020 at 2:00 PM.  The family will receive friends at Downing Funeral Home beginning at 12:00 PM.
