Donald Ellerman, 83, born on August 13, 1942, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025.
Don lived a full and vibrant life from his beginnings in Baltimore, Maryland. An avid athlete while at Virginia Tech, Don won four years of State Championships in wrestling and in racket ball. Thru out his life, he loved the water and was an active boater/firsherman. He was also a catcher for the Baltimore Orioles, and later won tennis championships at the Timber Pines Tennis Club. He moved from Maryland to Georgia before settling in the Timber Pine community in Spring Hill, Florida, where he formed many cherished friendships.
He earned an Engineering Degree from Virginia Tech in 1967 and began his career working on nuclear submarines. Later, Don transitioned into sales and real estate, always bringing his ambitious and engaging personality to every endeavor.
Don loved the ocean and boating, creating countless special memories on the water with his family. Affectionately known as “Grandpa” or “Papa Don,” he was beloved by all who knew him.
He is predeceased by his parents, LeRoy and Dolores Ellerman. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Regina Maineri; his son, Derrick Ellerman and wife, Jessica; his daughter, Dawn Ellerman; his brother, Robert Ellerman and wife, Helen; his grandsons, Douglas and Dax Ellerman. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Lisa Robinson, Kristina Badenhorst, David D’Agostino and step-daughter Lisa Simmons, step-grandchildren, Sophie and Brandon Badenhorst; Caitlyn and Jake Robinson and three step-great great grandchildren.
Don’s legacy lives on the love he shared, the laughter he inspired, and the countless lives he touched. His adventurous spirit and warm heart will forever be remembered by family and friends. His grandchildren will always cherish the joyful moments of dancing with him in the kitchen as he sang “We Could Have Danced All Night” from My Fair lady. May his memory be a blessing and his life an example of joy and perseverance.
