Dorothy Mae Stanley

Dottie Mae Stanley, 77 of Weeki Wachee, FL, passed away on September 24, 2025, after a long illness. She was born on April 30, 1948, in Miami, FL ,and had a love of the water from early childhood. She went on in her early adult years to become a Weeki Wachee Mermaid, which she was very proud of, and swam with the retired mermaids for many years after. She was also an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She worked for the DEP as an Administrative Secretary and later for the Health Department after moving to Weeki Wachee in 2000

She is survived by her husband, Rick, her sons Jason and Ricky Pelham, her sister Linda Parsons and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on September 29th from 5 to 7 PM at Downing Funeral Home, 1214 Wendy Court, Spring Hill, FL. Burial services will take place at the VA National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. on September 30th At 10 AM.

Dottie will be remembered for her kindness, humor, love of family and friends and tender heart for all animals.
