Douglas Albert Siegert

Douglas Albert Siegert, 81, of Hudson, Florida passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Sturgill Hospice House after a brief illness.

Douglas was born on March 16, 1942, in Alpena, Michigan to Evelyn and Albert Siegert. He grew up in Alpena, Michigan where he enjoyed, hunting, fishing, and playing sports. Douglas grew up the Lutheran Church, his faith has always been an important part of his life.

He graduated from Western Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in 1965. He then began his career as a chemical salesman at Haviland Products in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Douglas enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1965. He served in the Navy from 1965 to 1969. After his discharge he continued his career as a chemical salesman at Haviland Products, where he worked for 42 years.

Douglas married Nancy (Yovich) Siegert on June 12, 1971; they were blessed with almost 52 years of marriage. They have 3 children, Kelley, Michael, and Steven. They resided in Kalamazoo, Michigan and Grand Rapids, Michigan for most of their married life. In 2015 they moved to Hudson, Florida.

Douglas enjoyed golfing, cooking, spending time with family and friends. Doug was a kind and compassionate man, he always wanted to make sur everyone felt welcomed. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Douglas is survived by his wife Nancy (Yovich) Siegert, his children, Kelley (Kevin) Keel, Mike Siegert (Samantha), and Steven Siegert. His 5 grandchildren, Jack, Adalynn, and Theo Siegert; and Caleb and Caitlyn Keel. His brother David Siegert (Natasha), and sisters Beverly Smith (Terry), and Susan Kremer (George). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents Evelyn Siegert (Witt), and Albert Siegert.

A celebration of life will be held in honor of Douglas’s life this summer at St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, visitation on July 8th at 10:00 – 11:00 am.
