Mr. Edward F. Brady, 76, of Timber Pines passed away on September 8, 2020. He was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Edward and Elizabeth Brady on July 12, 1944. Eddie was a generous, kind, energetic man. He was often found going from roof to roof in Timber Lake Village cleaning everyone’s gutters. Of course he kept half the golf balls he found in the gutters saying that most of them were his! He was the first person you called if you needed help with a project. Eddie did years of volunteer work at an elementary school helping kindergarten students and teachers. He organized volunteers annually to judge Hernando County School Science Fair Competition. He also gathered volunteers to judge Hernando County High School History Competition. He was the founder and longtime president of the The Timber Pines Educators Club which among other good works raised money through Golf Tournaments and an outrageous annual event called Drag Queen Bingo (that’s like living on the edge in Timber Pines!!). Every event he organized was always a sell out. Eddie arranged for all the boys in a local school to own a white shirt and tie so they would know what it felt like to be dressed like a young man. Ed and his Educators Club purchased beautiful red long dresses for the school choir for their Christmas performances. He worked hard for the Timber Pines Players, again organizing people to paint stage sets and arranging a crew of us to move the staging during the shows… He was very involved in the Timber Pines Radio Flyers recreating old radio shows. He did years of work at the Dawn Shelter, a home for at risk women and children who often arrived at the shelter with nothing but the clothes on their back. From construction, to painting to power washing and anything else needed..Eddie did it all and many of the men from Timber Lake Village worked side by side with him. It was hard to say no to Eddie. Everything he did he did with great enthusiasm and class. He was also a very humble man who never bragged about his many accomplishments. He was a proud Veteran, he loved his family, his friends ,his country and his faith in GOD. He especially loved Janet and was devoted to caring for her.Eddie was a valued friend and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held at Downing Funeral Home on Friday, September 18, 2020 at 6:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until the service begins.
