George A. Higgins, 80, Spring Hill, FL passed away on April 22nd. George was born in Parkersburg, WV on November 17th, 1941. After graduating from high school, he went on to serve four years in the Army. Upon his honorable discharge George worked at Borg Warner/General Electric for 33 years.
His lifelong passion was drag racing and building race engines. That passion transitioned into his love for the open road and countless adventures on his motorcycles; which he shared with his wife Annie. George served as the Rally Master for the RT 66 Mother Road Ride Rally for 10 years. He and Annie shared many wonderful memories on RT 66 over an 18 span. George served as the chapter director for the GWRRA chapter FL1D2 for 9 years. George was very well known for his attention to detail, guidance, and leadership on the RT 66 motorcycle rides.
George was predeceased by his parents George and Lillian Higgins, his twin brother Steve Higgins, and sister Judy Swinson. He is survived by his brother Greg Higgins, sons Scott and Matthew Higgins, and Matthew Arbogast, granddaughter Brianna Higgins, along with several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on April 28th from 9:00 – 11:00 am at the Downing Funeral Home in Spring Hill, FL.
