Guy Dominic Peeters – September 12, 1949 – September 10, 2023
Guy Dominic Peeters, 73, of Brooksville, FL died unexpectantly early Sunday morning at home on September 10, 2023. Guy is survived by a large and loving family including his wife Sandra Peeters; 2 children, Paul Peeters of Mechanicsburg PA, Shelley Putt of Harrisburg PA; Grandsons, Zach Putt of Virginia Beach, VA and Collin Peeters of Lewisberry PA; 9 brothers and sisters; 29 nieces and nephews; and 63 grand nieces and nephews.
Born to Mark and Mary-Ellen Peeters on September 12, 1949, he was the 2nd of 11 children; Martin Peeters preceded in death by Mona Keberlein (Al), Drena Block (Jerry) Amber Berling (Lee) Margie VanderHeiden (Bill), Danny Peeters (Marie) Louise Robach (Scott), Barbie Hietpas (Jerry), Jo-Jo ( Pete), Kevin Peeters (Gina)
Growing up with his brothers and sisters, they were always joking around and he was probably one of the biggest instigators, but also had a heart of gold and looked for them as the “big brother”
In 1968 he graduated from St. Johns High School in Little Chute WI where he was involved in many extra-curricular activities including Key Club, producing a Saturday afternoon radio program, Lettering in football for the Flying Dutchman and being selected for the all-conference team and being in the Science Club where he frequently visited the institute of Paper Chemistry.
Right after graduation he started working at Appleton Papers in Combined Locks, WI. With his first paycheck he took his parents, brothers and sisters to Mars Drive In to celebrate his first paycheck. He then met and Married the love of his life Sandy. Guy was a hardworking man and took every opportunity to learn more about the company. After 10 years he was offered a promotion which brought his family to the plant in Camp Hill, Pa where he continued to strive. His eagerness to succeed and provide for his family along with his love of science and chemistry from high school landed him the role of a Process Engineer where he continued this role until, he retired after 33 years.
In 2005, he and his wife decided to spend their retirement years in Florida which brought them to the High Point Community in Brooksville. He was active in their Church and supported many causes. Over the years he was very active in the Social Club, Garden Club Hernando High Point Fire Department, Station 31 where he was a first responder, Captain and only certified fireman for the community fire department and served on the board of directors. Prior to his death he served on the board as Treasurer for the Lions Club. He also assisted community members with production events assisting with audio and visual, doing holiday light displays, creating event posters and tickets and so much more. He also loved singing Karaoke and dancing with his wife Sandra at social events which they attended at least once a week. One of his favorite songs to sing to his wife during Karaoke was You’re 16 by Ringo Starr, but he would always change 16 to her age.
As a husband, his family and friends would say how lucky they were to share that kind of rare and true love. After 49 years of marriage, people would always say they acted like they were newlyweds. They always expressed their love for one another and were pretty much inseparable. They just loved spending time together whether watching tv, running errands, attending social events, traveling or having nerf gun battles….Yes, that is not a typo. It was also not uncommon for their kids and grandkids to plot and join in on the fun when they visited, and even some of their closest friends Jim and Kathy Springer were part of the fun at times by being surprised by walking into a nerf battle or marshmallow shooting war. He provided a lifetime of memories for his wife with taking her on many cruises along with other short and long travel excursions all over the world seeing exotic and interesting places.
As a father, his kids couldn’t wish for a better role model. He worked hard to provide for his family, but also played hard. They have so many memories of Sunday breakfasts, game nights, playing badmitton, and family trips. He always supported them in anyway they needed and gave them a stable home where they loved, laughed and always felt important. He set a great example for them to follow with his words and actions and always made a point to tell them how much he loved them. He had so much knowledge and could always figure things out. Later, when he became a grandfather in 1990 and again 1996 his grandkids would go on to say the same things about their grandpa that their kids said. He was a kid at heart and enjoyed every second he got to spend with them. They have fond memories of Christmas tree ornament contests, go kart races in the yard, shooting pellet guns, nerf battles, trips and trips to Disney World. They like his children, went to him for advice on many things and respected what he had to say.
Throughout his life he was a caring and giving person and always offered to help others. He had knowledge in so many areas and people always went to him for advice or help with projects and tasks. His parents couldn’t have picked a better name for him because throughout his life his family and friends referred to him as the “Go to GUY”
He lived just short of his 74th birthday. His family will miss him dearly and there will be a large hole in their hearts for the rest of their lives. They hope that he is in Heaven singing Karaoke, dancing with his suspenders on and watching over them.
Celebration of life will be on Saturday, September 16 from 11am-3pm at The High Point Community Center located at 12249 Clubhouse Rd., Brooksville Fl. 34613
