Gwenette K Tuson

Gwenette Krestina Tuson (Smith) of Spring Hill, FL was peacefully called to be with the Lord on October 31, 2023.  Gwen, as she was affectionately called by family and friends, was born August 21, 1951 in Tampa, FL to Lorene Hoover (Ledford) and Clyde Wesley “CW” Smith.  She grew up in Gibsonton, FL and graduated from East Bay High School with the class of 1969.  During her adult life she moved to Pennsylvania where she raised her two daughters Brandi Diaz and Amanda Woods.  Gwen’s life eventually brought her back to her hometown of Gibsonton where she met her best friend and the love of her life Robert “Bob” Atha.  They spent 32 years building a beautiful life together.  Gwen was always known as a caring and compassionate person and her career in healthcare emulated just how big her heart was.  Gwen retired with plans to make more trips to her favorite place Walt Disney World, travel the United States, and see the world with her beloved Bob and their two dogs, Lilly and Gizmo.  Gwen is survived by her eternal love Bob and her four children:  Brandi (Jonathan), Amanda (Quentun), Joshua (Karla), and Jordan (Karin).  She also leaves behind eight grandchildren Drew, Mikayla, Dawson, Kaitlyn, Olivia. Charles, Jeremy, and Savannah and two great-grandchildren Logan and Novalynn.  Gwen will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.  

Both the Visitation and Celebration of Life Service for Gwen will be held at Downing Funeral Home 1214 Wendy Ct.  Spring Hill, FL 34607 on Friday November 10, 2023.   Visitation will begin at 10am and the Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 11am.  

Should family and friends desire, memorial contributions may be sent to the Humane Society of the Nature Coast in Gwen’s honor as she always had a soft spot for furry friends and treated each and every one as the valuable family member they were.
