Helen Victoria Dziegielewski Vunk
In reading this remembrance her family and friends will all feel the tears welling-up in their eyes, because on November 10, 2024, the most incredible mother, sister, friend, and family member passed. Helen Victoria Vunk was 74 years old. For those who did not know her you may not notice any difference, but for those who loved her and whom she loved, the world will never be the same. Helen was a very private person, and so little health-related information was shared as she did not want others to worry about her in the final months of life. Helen did not seem open to strangers but when she connected, she would love, honor, and protect those she trusted - and she did so with her last breath.
As a divorced mom she raised four incredible children, Milisa, Barbara, Melinda, and John. Working most of the time for minimum wage, she never complained and we would see her exhausted, yet like a mother with her bear cubs, she ensured they always had food to eat, and a loving and safe place to call home. Now all her children and grandchildren (Joseph Viktor, Larissa, Helena, Mike and AJ) are grown and they too know you could always count on Grandma for love and understanding.
Helen was close to all her siblings (Joseph [deceased], John, Sophia, Gregory, and Frank. For Sophia, her “sissy” was the family member most people dream they had, her rock, her support and most of all her best friend. For siblings' and children’s spouses, nieces, nephews and close friends, you know who you are, she never forgot how much you meant to her. In Helen’s own words in a letter left to her children and family she said "Let my teachings stay with you. Do not let life circumstances keep you down… in your darkest moment call for me and I will be your guiding light as I live on in your heart .”
