Heriberta Lopez Obituary

Heriberta Lopez, affectionately known as Tita and Bobbie, was born in Puerto Rico on May 23, 1942. She moved to the Bronx, New York when she was 6 years old. She graduated from Central Commercial High School and later studied at Hunter College.

It was in New York that Heriberta met the love of her life, Ismael Lopez. They were married on August 20, 1960, and together they built a life rooted in deep, unwavering love. Their bond was the foundation of everything they did. They especially loved traveling to Las Vegas and were truly inseparable. They faced life hand in hand, every single day, until Ismael’s passing. After his death, Heriberta carried his memory in everything she did.

Heriberta was a devoted mother to two children: her daughter Debra, born October 20, 1962, and her son Steven, born October 3, 1963. Her children were her world. She was a strong and dedicated parent, always ready to give everything she had for their well-being. Tragically, both Deborah and Steven passed away in 2024, a loss that weighed heavily on her heart.

Heriberta was one of 7 children. She is survived by her beloved sisters, Dolores (Lola) and Martha (Virgie). The three sisters shared an incredibly close bond, speaking almost daily. Heriberta cherished her relationship with them, and her face would light up whenever she spoke about them. Their love was a constant and uplifting force in her life.

She is also survived by three grandchildren — Desiree, Danielle, and Douglas — and three great-grandchildren — Iann, Emma, and Russell. In addition, she leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Rosa, and Rosa’s daughters, Nathalia and Priscilla. Watching her family grow brought Heriberta immense pride and joy.

Professionally, Heriberta worked for Bell South in New York City, where she was known for her dedication and loyalty. She made many lifelong friends during her time there and took great pride in her career. Later in life, she delighted in reconnecting with former colleagues and friends through social media.

Heriberta had a magnetic personality and a sharp wit. She loved to make people laugh and often surprised them with her clever sense of humor. She was a creative soul who enjoyed crafting, especially making blankets for loved ones, and she treasured looking through old photographs with family. Her dogs were a great comfort to her, particularly during difficult times. She loved connecting with people wherever she went, always hoping to brighten someone’s day. And she loved a good bargain — shopping was one of her great passions!

Heriberta was full of life. She loved deeply, was fiercely loyal, and had a strong, determined spirit. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
