On October 13, 2025 James F. (Jim) McKay passed away peacefully at Bayonet Point Hospital. Survived by his wife Denise, he was the son of Pat and Mary McKay (deceased), Brother of Michael A. McKay and Patrick T. McKay (deceased), Sister of Mary Ann McKay and Donna J. Rodgers (deceased) loved by all including many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jim was a warm, friendly and caring person with a quick wit. He will be missed.
Just a little history of our beloved. He served in the U.S. Navy as a 3rd Class Petty Officer and did a tour of duty in Vietnam. Jim was an entrepreneur, owning several Docktor Pet Centers, Lighting Quick Lube stores and Fantastic Sams Hair Salons.
He was active in the Elks and the Eagles organization, and the Boys Club of Nashua, NH where he was named Man of the year in 1992.
I want to share just one of the many kind comments from a dear friend that sums up how everybody feels about my husband...
I remember when we moved to Tampa and Mary Ann “gave them to us” in 2000. We’ve been dear friends ever since and I will miss him terribly; his great kindness, hilarious sense of humor, delicious food and cocktails and big heart full of love are all our dear Jim McKay.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 23rd at 11:30 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Spring Hill, Florida, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Aripeka Elks Lodge on Denton Avenue, Hudson, Florida. The Mass will also be available online live at saint-theresa.org
In lieu of flowers a contribution to his favorite charity Tunnel to Towers will be appreciated.
