With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Jessica Brooke Phatal. She was a daughter, a mother, a sister, an aunt, and a friend, and she was loved in ways deeper than she could ever truly understand. Her absence is felt profoundly by those who knew her and loved her.

Jessica lived with serious illness for many years, a journey that left her tired and often guarded. She carried much quietly and chose her circle carefully. Those closest to her understood her not through grand words or gestures, but through the steady, real presence she offered in the ways she could.

Jessica is survived by her seven children, sons Devon Hendricks, Matory Smith, and Dane Smith, and daughters Catlin Smith, Adriana Smith, Sinniah Smith, and Tiana Smith, each of whom carries her love forward and remains forever shaped by it. She is also survived by her beloved grandson, Elijah, who brought her joy and held a special place in her heart. She leaves behind her mother, Nancy Jackowiak, her father, Paul Richards, her sister, Tamera Gilkey, her niece, two nephews, and many extended family members and friends whose lives were touched by her in meaningful and lasting ways.

One of Jessica’s greatest joys was her love for animals. It was lifelong, wholehearted, and unmistakable. Animals brought her comfort and peace, and she cared for them with a tenderness and devotion that reflected the depth of her heart.

Jessica will be remembered for the love she gave, the bonds she held close, and the quiet impact she made on those who truly knew her. She leaves behind a family who loved her deeply and will continue to carry her memory forward with care, compassion, and love.
