Joan Walters, age 90, widow of Al Walters, passed away January 20, 2026

after a long illness. She was born on December 22, 1935 in Callicoon, NY. After raising their family in New Jersey, Al and Joan moved to Florida to live their best life 35 years ago. Joan enjoyed being very active in both her church and community with golfing, volunteering, committee work, dancing, and spending time with family, friends, and her pets. She is survived by her children John of Florida, Dan (Ann Marie) of New Jersey and Katherine of Florida. She is also survived by her sister Liz of New York and her grandchildren Nicole, Kimberly, Helen, Allison, and Alan. In addition to Al, her husband of 60 years, she was pre deceased by her sister Hildegarde and son-in-law Thomas. The family would like to express our sincere and heartfelt thanks to Janet and Angela from Hospice for the exceptional care they gave our mother. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Joan’s memory to the American Heart Association, The Humane society of the Nature Coast, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
