John B. Hopkins

John Hopkins, 91, of Adkins, Texas, formerly from Spring Hill Florida passed away peaceful on March 16, 2026. Born on April 6, 1934, in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, to Charles and Esther Hopkins, John lived a full and meaningful life dedicated to his family, faith, career, and service to his country.

John proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953. His dedication and valor were recognized with several honors, including the National Defense Service Metal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. His time in the military was a source of pride and shaped his lifelong commitment to duty and integrity.

After his military service, John pursued a career in the funeral business in Spring Hill, Florida. His work reflected his compassion and care for others during some of their most difficult times. He was known for his professionalism and dedication to serving his community with dignity.

Faith played a central role in John’s life. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in La Vernia, Texas. His involvement in the church brought him great joy and allowed him to form lasting connections with fellow congregants.

John was preceded in death by his beloved wife Maureen; his son Perry; his parents Charles and Esther; and siblings Charles, David, Lois, Robert, and Ruthie. Despite these losses, he remained a pillar of strength for those around him.

He is survived by a large and loving family who will cherish his memory; children Kerry (Mark) Neumann, Jill (George) Wright, Steven (Wendy) Hopkins, Richard (Robin) Hopkins, Pamela (David) Wall, Kyle (Jill) Richmond, John Richmond, Debbie (John) Johnston; his brother James Hopkins; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

John’s legacy is one of love for family and friends, devotion to faith and community service, and an unwavering sense of duty. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.

A Memorial Service will be held later to honor John’s remarkable life.  A Celebration of Life will be held on April 25, 2026 from 10:00am to 11:30am at First Baptist Church La Vernia 201 St. Crews St, La Vernia TX 78121.

Interment will be held on June 8, 2026, 10.30 AM at Florida National Cemetery 6502 SW 102nd Ave. Bushnell, Florida.
