Joseph P. DeSantis Sr., 91, of Seminole, Florida, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Joe later moved to New Jersey, where he raised his family of four children before relocating to Spring Hill, Florida, in 1994. He was a successful business owner who proudly operated Royal Lawns of New Jersey for more than 20 years and served as President of the New Jersey Turfgrass Association for two years.
Joe proudly served in the United States Army for two years, a reflection of his love of country and sense of duty.
In retirement, Joe enjoyed traveling in his motor home and remained active in his community, serving as President of the RV Club at Timber Pines. He also loved taking cruises and making lasting memories with family and friends.
Later, after moving to Freedom Square, Joe faithfully led Vespers services for eight years, reflecting his enduring faith and commitment to serving others.
Joe was blessed in love, having been married to two wonderful women. He shared 45 years of marriage with Yolanda, who predeceased him, and 24 years with his beloved wife, Elaine, who survives him.
He is also survived by his son, Anthony DeSantis; his daughter, Annemarie Drury; his son-in-law, Jim Drury; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. On Elaine’s side her daughter Terri Setzler, husband Charles, her son Jeff Pike, his wife Cindy and four grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Joe will be remembered for his love of family, his leadership, his faith, and the many lives he touched throughout his long and meaningful life.
Burial will be held on June 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Bay Pines National Cemetery. A Vespers service will be held at Freedom Square Roskamp at 3:30 PM.
Celebration of Life will be held On August 22, 2026. Mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church Flanders, NJ at 10:00 AM followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover NJ.
