In Loving Memory of Joseph J. Quinn
January 12, 1924 April 23, 2025
Joe was a dapper and vibrant Renaissance man who always loved friends and company. He was born in New York City, New York, on January 12, 1924. He enjoyed a great childhood with his parents, Francis and May Quinn, and his two brothers, Edward and James, and two sisters, Katherine and Frances – all of whom predeceased him. He graduated from James Monroe High and was appointed to the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York. Upon graduating from the United States Merchant Marine Academy (Class of 1944), he was commissioned into the United States Navy. In the U.S. Navy, he served in the South Pacific Theater of operations until his honorable discharge in 1946. Joe joined the New York City Fire Department in 1952, achieving the rank of Lieutenant. He retired from the NYFD in 1978. He moved to Spring Hill, Florida, with his wife and long-time loving companion “Elsa,” who predeceased him. The latter years of his life were spent with his niece and nephew (Gina and Dennis) in Texas. Joe will always be remembered for his kindness and friendship, He will be greatly missed.
