Lance Hunter Obituary

Lance D. Hunter, 77, of Spring Hill, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving and devoted wife, daughter, and grandson. Born in Chester, Pennsylvania, Lance proudly served in the United States Army for 31 years, retiring as a Command Sergeant Major from Fort Carson, Colorado, in 1998. Being a soldier was not just a career for Lance—it was his calling. If given the chance, he would have served even longer, as his heart never left the Army.

Lance was a man of great generosity and quiet strength, known for always carrying a handkerchief—ready to offer it with a kind word to anyone in need. He never met a stranger and had a gift for conversation, especially when sharing stories of his service, his family, or his latest craft project.

After retirement, he discovered a deep joy in quilting and crafting, becoming especially known for his quilts and quillows. Each stitch was an act of love—most often made for his beloved wife of 56 years, Edna M. Hunter. He found his greatest happiness in making things for her, pouring time, care, and affection into every creation.

Lance was the proud father of Diane R. Bosworth, grandfather to Alescia (Payton), Tyler (Ashley), and Paige (Sergio), and great-grandfather to Makai, Kinsley, Asher, Saige, and Ellie. His love for his family was steadfast and immeasurable.

“A soldier doesn’t fight because he hates what’s in front of him – he fights because he loves what’s behind him.”   GK Chesterton

Lance D. Hunter truly lived a life of service, love, and legacy. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and fellow soldiers.
