It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Laurence Vitty Wood, 77, of Springhill, Florida, on February 25, 2026. He was a devoted husband to Claudia of 29 years, a loving father to Arlene (Sean) McElwee, Laurence Wood Jr., Dena Wood, and the late Vonie Wood. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren—Aggie, Alyssa, Michaela, Kacee, Katelyn, Brianna, Bethany, Kimmy, and Dana—and 9 great-grandchildren who will forever cherish his memory He was predeceased by his parents, Carleton and Brenda Wood, and his brother Carl.
Larry was born and spent much of his life in Philadelphia. He was a truck driver by profession, but his true passion lay in working on cars and tinkering with various other hobbies. Throughout his life, he built lasting friendships that he held dear, and he was loved by all who knew him.
Dad, you will be missed more than words can express. While we know you tried to shield us from the pain of losing you, that didn't make it any easier. We will honor your memory by remembering you as you were—a loving, kind, and steadfast presence in our lives. We find comfort knowing you are now free from pain and at peace, though our hearts remain heavy. Our love for you will never fade, and we will forever treasure our conversations and the moments we shared.
In accordance with Larry's wishes, there will be no formal services. He requested to be cremated and for his ashes to be scattered—taking him on one last vacation with us.
We invite friends and family to share their thoughts, stories, and fond memories as we navigate this loss together, keeping his spirit alive in our hearts.
