Marjorie Elizabeth Mathis
July 3, 1944 – August 11, 2025
Marjorie Elizabeth Mathis, born July 3, 1944, in Ontario, Canada, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Raised in Montreal alongside her two brothers, Ken and Bill, Marge attended nursing school there before moving to the United States in 1968. She proudly became an American citizen in 2004.
Marge devoted more than 40 years to her calling as a registered nurse, working in several hospitals in Michigan and Florida before retiring in 2006. Even in retirement, her heart for service continued—she volunteered with Hospice and at St. Vincent de Paul, offering comfort and compassion to those in need.
She and Clarence “Clay” began their life together in 1976 and were married on September 22, 1978. They shared five adult children and were blessed with eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Our beloved Marge was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend—an angel on earth to anyone in need of care. A selfless hero, she always looked out for those less fortunate. Fun-loving with a quick wit and a mischievous sense of humor, she brought joy to every room she entered.
She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know her. Her time on earth was but a warm-up in God’s greater plan for her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice at 12260 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville, FL 34613, in Marjorie’s name.
