Mary Bonina Margaret Vanzetta Akers

Longtime resident of Brookridge, Florida and spent her last year at Vitality Living home for adults. Mary was born in Haverstraw, NY on August 15, 1933 to Margaret Moretto Vanzetta and Anthony Vanzetta, Mary had two sibling Victor and Bonnie Vanzetta Peluso both predeceased her. She Graduated from Haverstraw High School and then the Wilfred Academy Beauty School in NYC. She married Harold Hap Akers in 1953. They had four children, Harold, Gary, Susan and Anthony. She and her mother ran Margie's Beauty Shoppe in Haverstraw. Moving out of the Hair Styling business she and a Nephew started a Craft and flower business also in Haverstraw, NY.   Mary and her husband Hap moved to Florida in the late 1990's and enjoyed their time in Brookridge, Brooksville, Florida. After her husband’s death she continued her involvement in several clubs in Brookridge, such as Crafty Stitchers and of course numerous evenings playing Bingo. She made jewelry and crocheted up a storm. Mary was a generous and kind hearted soul, and had kind words about all.  As she reached the stage where she needed limited care, she spent her last year of life enjoying new friends and companionships, and of course Bingo. Living at Vitality was a pleasure for her and enjoyed every minute there.
