MEDFORD LOWE STARRATT

JULY 2024

Medford Lowe Starratt, a man of unwavering dedication and love for his family and  country, passed away at his home in Brooksville, Florida on July 8th, 2024. He was born on March 6, 1930, in Quincy, Massachusetts to Lowe Starratt and Mearle Frank Starratt.

Med was a proud veteran, having served 20 years in the United States Air Force. His service spanned across three major conflicts- World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam. His dedication to his country was a testament to his bravery and patriotism. Qualities that he carried with him throughout his life.

After retiring from the Air Force, Med continued to make significant contributions in various fields. He worked for Fairchild Hiller Aeronautics, then the Morgan Yacht Company, and later served the City of St. Petersburg as a Building Inspector and eventually as the Building Official. His professional journey was a reflection of his relentless work ethics and his desire to contribute to the community.

Med was a family man at heart. He was a loving husband to his wife, Penelope, and a dedicated father to his four children: Medford Lowe Starratt Jr., Judy Corneal, Sandra Johnson, and Yuvonne Hurd. His Family was his pride and joy, and cherished every moment spent with them. Med’s legacy lives on through his 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

Med’s life was also marked by personal loss. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowe Starratt and Mearle Frank Starratt, and  three brothers, four sisters, and one child, and three grandchildren. Despite these profound losses, Med remained a pillar of strength and resilience for his family.

Those who knew Med will remember his unwavering dedication, his strong moral compass, and his boundless love for his family. He was a man of integrity, a man who lived by his principles, and a man who always put others before himself. His legacy is one of service, love, and dedication-a legacy that will continue to inspire us all.

We remember the incredible life he lived and the many lives he touched. We honor his memory by carrying forward his values of service, dedication, and love. And we find comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in each of us.
