Melvin “Smokey” Reese Jr., 66, passed away at his home in Weeki Wachee, FL on Friday, July 24, 2020. No one was a stranger in his world and he regularly went out of his way to help others, even if he didn’t know them. He enjoyed a lifelong passion for motorcycles and racing and was a longtime and loyal member of the Ruff Ryders of Tampa Bay motorcycle club. Melvin retired from the US Air Force after 20 years of service to his country. He and his family moved to Florida, where he began a distinguished 20-year career with the Florida Forest Service (formerly Division of Forestry). In addition to his regular duties as Maintenance Administrator, he took pride in traveling the country on emergency management teams for wildfire control and hurricane relief.
Melvin leaves behind his wife of 26 years, Kimberly, sons Kenneth (LaWanda), Joshua (Tomeka), Deante (Emily), Melvin III “Tre” (Heather); daughters Renisha “Nikki” (Frank), Ondreia, Dwanda “Sam” (Joel), and Frankie. He is also survived by sisters Adrienne “Wendy”, Rochelle and Renee, 18 grandchildren and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Melvin will be deeply missed by his loving family members and dear friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 22 at 12:00 PM at the Christian Church in the Wildwood (10051 Country Rd, Weeki Wachee). The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until the time of the service. A Private Interment will take place at Florida National Cemetery.
