Milly was born in Scituate MA on July 23rd, 1929. She was the third of 7 children born to Clifton and Alta Whittaker. Early in her life the family settled in Brockton, MA where she grew up and attended local schools, took years of dance lessons, and rode her horses. She graduated Brockton High School in 1947.
She was a lover of life, her family and playing cards and games. She took chances that some wouldn't, and worked hard, but could celebrate the cocktail hour too. You could find her digging post holes or sulkie driving, or making her delicious spaghetti and meatballs.
Her happiest days were after she married Roger (Jerry) Germinario and together they bought a farm in E. Bridgewater, MA. There they raised Arabian and Standardbred horses, and a small variety of farm animals.
Later they became the owners of the well known Rice's Market at 769 N. Main St in Brockton, MA where their love of cooking blossomed into a very busy take-out business.
She has one surviving sister Kathleen Meuda of New Bedford, MA (Richard). She was preceded in death by her sisters Ruth Taylor of Brockton, MA; Charlotte LaValley of Pembroke, MA; Beverly (Jeannie) Perry of Brockton, MA; and 2 brothers C. Edward Whittaker of Brockton, MA and Paul Whittaker of Taunton, MA.
She was widowed on December 9th, 2008; and is survived by her children Cynthia Fortin Clement of Tennessee; Kenneth Fortin and his wife Olivia of Cana, VA; Bruce Fortin and his wife Toni of Wilson, N. Carolina; Joseph Germinario of New Bedford, Dina South and her husband Timothy of New Port Richey, FL; and was preceded in death by her daughter Lynne E. Fortin Baker of N. Carolina.
She leaves 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was also the aunt of numerous nieces and nephews, many of which she had a near and dear relationship.
