Patricia A. McKay
Patricia (Pat) McKay, 75 of Hernando Beach, Florida (formerly of Pembroke, MA) passed away on August 13, 2023. Pat is survived by her funny, loving, incredibly handsome husband John. John and Pat were married for 54 years. John is certain Pat hit the jackpot when she landed him back in 1967. Pat is also survived by her two spectacular children Stephen and Lisa (Bunszel). Pat promised she did not have a favorite child but one got a motorcycle and the other did not get a pony so that’s questionable. Pat is also survived by her loving daughter-in-law Amanda, son-in-law Matthew and her four cherished, beautiful, sweet grandchildren Jack, Connor, Liam and Olivia who loved their Grammy/Grampy Girl to infinity and beyond.
Pat enjoyed life. She enjoyed gardening in her beautiful yard (except for weeding, she really hated weeding). She loved boat rides with John and living on Hernando Beach. Pat enjoyed her morning walks, watching the birds at her feeders, visits from the blue heron who knocks on their window each day and watching the manatee and dolphin swim by in the canal. Pat loved bingo, a good yard sale (or any bargain!), lobster (for breakfast or dinner) and a glass of her favorite boxed wine.
She had the most wonderful friends and family who loved her dearly and who she showered with love. Everyone who knew Pat always knew how much she loved them. She showed it in all of her thoughtful ways including dinner invites, holiday feasts, random things she’d buy just because she was thinking of you, a card in the mail for a birthday or holiday or a quick phone call to say hello and let you know you were on her mind.
Pat loved her family more than anything and we loved her to the moon and back. She and John shared a love and closeness that was truly special. They were a team in every sense of the word. They were the best of friends who weathered hard times and reveled in the good times. Stephen and Lisa had the BEST childhood imaginable because of them. We all had so much fun together camping, fishing, swimming, boating, cookouts and Sundays at the BMX track. Mom and Dad shared a love of animals that resulted in a house full of pets. And of course, our home was always full of neighborhood kids who affectionately called her “Mom” which she loved because she loved them. She made everyone feel welcome. Always. She offered advice and guidance and was a great listener. She will be missed every second of every day.
Rest in the sweetest peace Pat, Patty, Patsy, Ma, Mom, Grammy, Grampy Girl. We love you.
