Paul Alan Griffin, 78, passed away after a long illness on November 4th in Spring Hill, FL.
Son of Barbara Sylvester and John Griffin, he was born August 12, 1946 in Salem, MA. He graduated Salem High School in 1964 and attended Pratt Community College in Kansas before entering the Navy serving aboard the USS Harder, a Gato-class submarine. Paul married Barbara Rhoades from Marblehead MA on September 12, 1970 and upon his death they were married 54 years. That same year he became a patrolman for the Ipswich, MA police dept. and in 1972 Paul became a trooper for the NH State Police and was employed as a trooper for 20 years. An accomplished rider, Paul was on the NHSP motorcycle unit for 10 of those years. Upon retirement from the State Police, he became a bailiff for the Salem court system until moving to Spring Hill, FL in 1995 where he worked for the Pasco Crime Prevention Unit and then the Spring Hill school system as a truant officer.
Paul was a member of the Blue Nights International Law Enforcement Club, the Harley Davidson Owners Club and enjoyed working on his model railroad and his antique car. He greatly enjoyed traveling and adventures with Barbara and his friends, often by motorcycle. Before his illness Paul was nonstop-puttering, doing yard work and fixing things. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed playing sports his entire life. Paul played football, softball and was a member of the NHSP hockey team.
He was preceded to heaven by his older brother, Michael and his niece, Hazel, and mother and father. He is survived by his wife and mother of his children, Barbara Griffin of Spring Hill, FL; their children: Heather Browne of Falmouth, ME and husband Kevin, Heidi Griffin of Spring Hill, FL, Sister-In-Law Kathy Griffin-Christy and husband Mark; Five grandchildren: Korah, Maiah, Troy, Calia and Nolan.
