Peter Stiller

We are saddened to announce the passing of Rev. Dr. Peter Stiller, a retired pastor who lived in Weeki Wachee, Florida.  Rev. Stiller was 82 years old and touched the lives of hundreds through his kindness, gentle humor, and uplifting presence throughout nearly forty-five years of ministry.

Born in Germany, Rev. Stiller earned a Master of Divinity from Tabor Theological Seminary in that country and a Master of Arts from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Illinois.  He was ordained in April 1969,  in Germany, and later earned a Doctorate in Ministry from Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria.

Rev. Stiller served several congregations over the decades:  Fellowship Deaconry in Forest Park, Illinois (1969–1971); Evangelical Kirchengemeinde Kaan-Marienborn in Siegen, Germany (1973–1976); the Beausejour Rural Lutheran Parish in  Beausejour, Manitoba, Canada (1976–1983); Trinity Lutheran Church, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada (1983–1986); St. John Lutheran Church in Norfolk, Virginia (1986–1991); St. Michael Lutheran Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia (1991–2000); and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sun City Center (2000 until his retirement in 2012).

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Anne, as well as their three children:  David, Suzanne, and Katheryn, and eight grandchildren.   Condolence notes may be sent to Anne Stiller at 12000 Knuckey Road, Weeki Wachee, FL 34614.

A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, December 29, at 10:00 a.m., with viewing from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., at Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 304 Druid Hills Road, Temple Terrace, FL 33617.  Committal will be private.

We thank God for Rev. Stiller's life and ministry and entrust him to God's eternal care.
