Pierce V. Hanson was born on August 10, 1951, in Jamaica, NY, to Denise Louise (neé Pierce) and the late Victor Granville Hanson. Pierce was educated in the New York City Public School System and finished his high school studies at Laurinburg Institute in Laurinburg, North Carolina. He attended Adelphi and Rutgers Universities, respectively. Pierce was employed with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation in Jamaica, Queens, as a Recreational Specialist. He had a penchant for all things sports, and that passion carried over into his work. He organized basketball tournaments for kids, while dedicating his spare time to coaching youth in local sports organizations. He considered himself both blessed and lucky.
Pierce eventually retired to Springhill, Florida, where he spent his final years surrounded by his family.
Pierce transitioned into eternal peace on September 17, 2021. He leaves to mourn his memory, his mother, Denise Louise of Springhill, FL; his sister, Victoria Denise (Harry) of Springhill, FL/ Jamaica, NY; his nephew, Raymond Victor (Tara) of Elmont, NY; his niece, Remy Nicole, of Jamaica, NY; cousin, Derryl Earl, of Florida; great nieces and nephews Madison Victoria Lynne, Laila Raye, Victor Raymond & Vincent Raymond of Elmont, NY, and a host of relatives and friends. We love you, infinity and beyond!
