Rex Allen Ashworth, age 71, of Brooksville, Florida, passed away on December 4, 2024, at his home. Growing up in Oglethorpe County, Georgia, Rex was the eldest son of the late Thad F. Ashworth and Jean B. Ashworth.
A 1971 graduate of Oglethorpe County High School, Rex went on to proudly serve his country as a member of the United States Navy. After his service, he became a skilled electrical engineer, working across the United States.
Rex was a true outdoorsman who found joy in activities such as fishing, archery, and golf. His love for nature and the outdoors was a central part of his life, and he cherished any opportunity to be outside.
Rex is survived by his siblings: Greg and Martha Ashworth of Watkinsville, Georgia; Keith and Rhonda Ashworth of Bogart, Georgia; and Jeanan Bryson of Easley, South Carolina. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He will be remembered for his generosity, his passion for life, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him. Rex's kind spirit and love for family and friends will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations go to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate), in Rex’s memory. A private service will be held at a later date.
