Robert F. Gibbons of Spring Hill, Florida, age 88 passed away surrounded by his beloved family on April 4, 2026.
Leaving behind his beloved wife, Mildred P. Gibbons and children, Charles Self (Lori), Edwin Self (Karen), Robert Gibbons (Kelly), Heidi DiFillippo (Marc), Heike Miller (Jay), Kelly Stinsman and , James Stinsman in addition to 34 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his son Micheal A. Gibbons and parents Thomas and Margaret (Radcliffe) Gibbons.
Born in Camden, New Jersey, he was part of a family owned business. Although, Robert “ Bob” worked for many years in the transit business with Laid Law of Carmel, NJ he reestablished the family business “Gibbons Automotive” with his dedication to family roots in the automotive retail business.
He was everyone’s “Rock” with his strength, balancing, commitment and loyalty to all with a selfless and people pleasing ability that was shared with those he loved.
Bob and Mildred (wife) moved to Spring Hill, Florida in 2003. The devotion to his Community , Customers , Coworkers and extended family. “Bob” was always a mentor to everyone with an in-depth explanation until we understood exactly what to do. Bob even gave classes to women teaching them how to repair their own vehicles.
His passion for racing was never ending, either he was building dirt track cars for himself or his closest racing friends. They always had the fastest engines around.
“ Bob “ leaves behind a legacy that will continue to be recreated for generations to come. He raised his family with humor, morals, stability, unconditional love, and dedication and has created a footprint in the lives he touched forever which will be instilled in, changed by and cherished for eternity.
Whether you called him Robert, Bob, Gramps, PopPop or Gibby he was truly an amazing man, father, grandfather, mentor friend and spouse. His love of racing and family ran deeper than any ocean on this earth and as he crosses the finish line into heaven for his checkered flag, he will be truly missed by everyone he touched in this life, but most of all “HE WILL ALWAYS BE OUR HERO …”
