Robert J. Sheekey

ROBERT J. SHEEKEY, born July 5, 1934 (age 90) of Spring Hill, Florida passed away peacefully Sunday, July 7, 2024.  Born in Jamaica, NY and lived in Glendale, NY for over 40 years.  Bob served in the Air Force and fought in the Korean War.  He worked for Eastern Airline for 35 years.  Bob was a devoted husband for 64 years to his wife, Rose who predeceased him on March 10, 2019.  Bob is survived by his beloved three children, Lynn and her husband, Richard Cleary, Steven and his wife, Barbara Sheekey, Brian and his wife, Sally Sheekey.  He also leaves five cherished grandchildren, Chrystie, Kyle, Stephany, Jay and Sam and four adored great grandchildren, Esme, Ada, Otto and Noa, as well as many loved nieces and nephews.  Bob was predeceased by his siblings, Beatrice and George and leaves behind his two brothers, Jim of Glendale, AZ and Arthur of Springfield, VA.  Bob, who was a devote Catholic, loved to golf and play billiards, but his greatest passion was always his family.  Friends and family alike agree that he was the kindest man! Viewing hours will be Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Downing Funeral Home located at 1214 Wendy Court in Spring Hill.  The funeral mass will be said Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 9:30 am at St. Theresa’s RC Church, Spring Hill.  Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
