Vincent Lubrani Obituary

Mr. Vincent Anthony Lubrani (Vince), 86, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2020 at Cobblestone Manor in Spring Hill.  He was born on April 25, 1934 in Newark, New Jersey to Silio and Louise Lubrani.  He was raised in Newark, and Union, New Jersey, and graduated from Union High School in 1952.  Vince was a proud veteran of the US Navy, honorably discharged as a Petty Officer, 3rd Class.  He married his beloved Mary Gail Theiller, in 1960 and they raised their two daughters in Metuchen and Edison, New Jersey.  He was employed as a sprinkler fitter foreman, a member of Local 696 for over 40 years before retiring in 1993, and was widely recognized as a role model and mentor to several apprentices new to the business. Vince and Gail moved to Spring Hill 20 years ago, and lived in Timber Pines where they were involved in many community activities and events with neighbors who became like a second family.  He was a communicant of St. Theresa Catholic Church and a dedicated volunteer with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Daniel; sisters Frances Hutsko and Camille Fotiou, and son-in-law Richard Atkinson.  He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years; daughters Nancy Tomassone and son-in-law Mark of Viera, Florida, and Kathleen Atkinson of Perkasie, Pennsylvania; grandchildren Matthew Atkinson and Alyssa Atkinson; great-grandson Coleson Atkinson, and a number of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.

Vince’s greatest love was his family, and he demonstrated this daily by being an incredibly devoted husband and father.  He treasured special memories of time spent at their vacation home in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, and in particular, fishing with his grandson.  He surprised us all when he became a self-taught baker, and was known for making and sharing the best pizzelle cookies.  His Catholic faith was not only demonstrated by his words, but importantly through his actions as he was so very generous with his time, treasure and talent.  Hard working, dedicated and a man of his word, he will be remembered by all who were blessed to know him as a caring, kind and generous man with a wonderful sense of humor who lived life to the fullest and truly appreciated every moment he had here on earth.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, October 13, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1107 Commercial Way, Spring Hill.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you remember Vince’s special concern for children facing life threatening illnesses by donating to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or by continuing his work to help the area’s less fortunate by contributing to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul - Hernando.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the management and staff of Cobblestone Manor for the kind and compassionate care Vince received during his final days.
