William Paul Anderson, Jr., known to many as Bill and affectionately as Butch, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated community member who touched the lives of many. He passed away peacefully in Brooksville, FL on October 29, 2024, at the age of 71.
Born in Lakewood and raised in Brick, NJ, Bill lived in Brick for over 61 years before relocating to Brooksville, FL to live out his retirement dreams in a home he helped design. He was married to the love of his life, Grace, for 48 years and cared deeply about his children and grandchildren.
Bill was a devoted employee to the community of Brick Township, serving in many different capacities as a Foreman for their Public Works department for 35 years. As a dedicated husband and father, he worked a second job to support his family, serving as a part-time employee at Toys R Us, where he built countless bikes and swing-set displays, among other tasks.
Bill had a remarkable ability to fix almost anything and was fondly described by his mother-in-law Gloria as having "hands of gold." His talent for carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work was evident in the many projects he undertook for his family, including building a major home addition and participating in the construction of several complete homes for family members in Virginia.
A Lionel train enthusiast, Bill also volunteered as a fireman for the Pioneer Hose Fire Department in Brick, NJ. After his time as a fireman, he was often seen restoring an antique fire truck and driving it in parades for the community's enjoyment.
Above all, Bill was a fierce advocate for his family and always put their needs before his own. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his wife Grace, children Bill (and wife Kate), Steve (and wife Stacy), Nicole Callaghan (and husband Brian), and grandchildren Claire, Willa, Austin, Brielle, Makayla, and Braiden. Hosting yearly visits with his grandchildren, playing games with them and watching them swim in the Florida sun, brought him great joy.
Bill's family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating his life. In lieu of flowers or gifts, a donation can be made to the Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation.
